Nanning Chemical plans to further expand its caustic soda and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) capacity in Guangxi province, South-west China, a source from the company said on 9 July.
The expansion project which would commence late this year and be completed by late 2009 would see the construction of a 300,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant and a 320,000 tonne/year PVC plant, the source said.
The company was expecting the plants to be on stream by the first quarter of 2010, the source added.
The caustic soda plant would be using a membrane technology and the PVC plant would be using carbide based technology, or also known as acetylene based technology.
Nanning Chemical currently boasts a caustic soda capacity of 260,000 tonne/year and 160,000tonne/year of PVC, which is also carbide based.
When the expansion project is completed, Nanning Chemical’s caustic soda capacity will add up to 560,000 tonne/year and its PVC capacity will be 480,000 tonne/year.
