Influenced by the production cut and shutdown of MDI AND EDC facilities in Caojing complex(Shanghai), today Shanghai Cholr-alkali Corporation(SCAC) declared to shutdown its 360 KTA Ethylenedichloride(EDC) from Mid December for 20 days. As integrated unites, the chlor-alkali facilities of SCAC supplies chlorine for its downstream MDI and TDI production, and used the recycle HCl to produce EDC. So if operations of MDI and TDI are abnormal, SCAC wouldn’t be free from the influence. Now SCAC’s 360 K tonnes caustic soda facilities were running at 50% rates this month. At the same time, due to the balance of chlorine and caustic soda, SCAC now adjust its facilities in Wujing to 50-80% rates for the same time.
